My sister and I are going to have a garage sale together. We decided that the sale would be at my house because she lives out in the country on a road that does not have much traffic. We decided that the sale would be on a Friday and if we still had items left we could open it back up on Saturday as well. About a month before the sale I started sorting through boxes that have been in storage for years. I came across one box that said party stuff. I was surprised when I opened the box just how much party stuff was in it. When my three children were growing up I would throw big birthday parties for each of them. I always wanted each of my children to feel special so I never wanted to use the same theme more than once. This meant that I had left over supplies for each of the children times 3. I had also saved party stuff from Halloween and holiday parties that we had hosted through the years. Pinatas are a useful party stuff that will accent your party decoration and are fun with a kid parties
The party stuff included everything from left over invitations to partial rolls of crepe paper to left over party favors. When I showed the box to my husband he said that there was another box marked the same way in the storage area of the garage. We went in the garage and he dug out the box. It was a huge box and it was marked party stuff. In here were remnants of graduation parties, barbeque parties and an anniversary party that we had done for my parents. I was embarrassed that I had saved all of these inexpensive decorations for over 25 years. I wanted my husband to help me throw it out. He said that I might as well put the decorations on the garage sale. If no one bought the party stuff I could throw it away. I had over a hundred party favors between the two boxes. I placed them in bags of 10 and charged a quarter for them. I had bags of assorted paper plates with matching glasses. I put the Halloween stuff in one area and the holiday party decorations in another. By the time I was done going through the boxes I had two long tables that were full of party stuff. The evening before the sale my sister brought over her items. When she walked into the garage, where I had my items set up she started to laugh. She said that she could tell we were related because she had two boxes full of party stuff also. We added her things to the tables and had to borrow another table from the neighbor to get the rest of the things displayed. By the end of the sale all of the party stuff was gone. Several young mothers came and were delighted that they could purchase items for their children’s birthdays. Other resources
