Make birthday invitations There is nothing greater than a celebration of any sort. Birthday celebrations are the best though, even when you are dreading an upcoming milestone or age. It is always great to throw a party, or be surprised by a party, and spend the evening surrounded by people you love. That's what life is all about. I'm not a big fan of being the one to plan and throw a birthday party, because that means that I am in charge of all of the details. The one detail that I absolutely used to detest was finding appropriate invitations. All of the invitations always looked incredibly store bought and boring. They say the same things and have the same silly pictures and artwork all over them. I don't like to follow the normal standards. Not that store bought invitations are horrible, because they're not, but I prefer to make birthday invitations from scratch. My best friend is very into the Stampin' Up trend, and she's incredibly talented when it comes to creating virtually anything that you can imagine. I have asked her to make birthday invitations for me on several occasions - from my daughter's first birthday party to making my sister's bridal shower invitations. Every time I ask her to make birthday invitations or something else, she has always managed to come up with something amazing. I usually let her know what the theme is and she takes it from there. Of course, you don't have to be that creative or into Stampin' Up in order to make birthday invitations. All you need is a bit of creativity and the desire to do something different for a change. Any craft store has blank invitations that you can use to either stamp, paint, color or print things from your computer onto. I have on occasion, cut out text that I printed from my computer, and glued it to blank invitations. I've painted designs or simple colors around the print outs and let my creative juices flow. What's great about that is that no invitation ends up looking the same. By doing that, when you make birthday invitations, everyone gets something that is completely unique. Most people who receive them probably don't appreciate that or even have a clue as to what you did to make birthday invitations - but at least you will know. That's what matters. I've have bought plain felt and cut out balloons and hearts for creating invitations or cards as well. When I used to have more time, I made my own wedding invitations with lots of felt hearts, colored paper and stamps. By the time I was finished with making 75 of them, they were all different and looked really incredible. I received tons of compliments on them. To make birthday invitations, all you need to do is visit a craft store and glance around. You can take lots of scrap paper and odds and ends to make birthday invitations that look unique and fun. Your guests might appreciate them immensely. Or, they might not even notice. At least you'll have fun making them. |
