People send birthday cards in the hopes of reminding someone that their special day is fondly remembered. There are stores devoted to greeting cards. We find ourselves searching the aisles in a seemingly endless effort to find that perfect greeting card. Sometimes there just does not seem to be that perfect card that you had in mind. When this occurs you can opt to create birthday cards on your own.

With the use of the Internet or some easy to use programs, you can create birthday cards yourself. You can add your own personal touch to your birthday wish for someone special. There are several sites and computer programs to assist you so you may create birthday cards by yourself.

One method is to search the Internet for sites that allow you to create birthday cards and print them. They usually have you upload a picture first. They ten send you to a page with several options for you to embellish your birthday card. There are countless borders and images that you can use to create birthday cards. After you have finished designing your card, you upload it to the company and place an order. They mail your cards directly to you.

Another method would be to use a program to create birthday cards on your personal computer and print right at home. There are several card creation programs on the market. They vary greatly in price as well. Usually a small program works well for small projects. There are also several different brands of programs to help you create birthday cards as well as other types of cards. I personally stick with Adobe products.

One drawback of using a website to create birthday cards is uploading images can be tricky. You need to be sure of the appropriate size and file type. You also run the risk of distortions in your pictures.

Another concern would be preparing the card in enough time to have it either sent to you or the birthday boy or girl directly. If you send the card directly to the recipient, you are not able to review it or sign it. You are also limited to the templates that are offered on the site.

A downside to purchasing your own program would be cost. You would need computer ink, greeting card paper and the cost of the program and any upgrades for the program over time. Both of these methods to create birthday cards are good but depend on the person’s preference.
